The Non-Surgical Way to Look Younger Naturally

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are a minimally invasive procedure that can quickly get rid of facial lines and restore fullness and volume to your face. They are meant to assist with the natural effects of aging as a soft tissue filler but are not permanent. This means that multiple treatments may be needed for long-term results.

What are Dermal Fillers Made Of?

Dermal fillers are made of biocompatible gel-like substances which are injected beneath the skin to restore lost volume, smooth lines and soften creases, or enhance facial contours. With dermal fillers, you’ll get natural-looking results that make you look younger without surgery or downtime.

Dermal Fillers Can Help…

  • Plump thin lips

  • Add fullness to cheeks

  • Smooth smile lines

  • Soften crow’s feet and under-eye wrinkles

  • Fill in the appearance of recessed scars

  • Restore natural facial contours

  • Eliminate wrinkles caused by loss of collagen and elasticity in skin due to aging

How Long Do Dermal Fillers Last?

On average, your dermal fillers will last anywhere from 12 to 24 months. This is because over time, the soft tissue filler will begin to degrade naturally. However, due to its incredible ability to absorb water, the biocompatible substance will keep your skin voluminous for quite some time.

Touch-up treatments are recommended for those who are interested in maintaining their appearance and increasing longevity. When you schedule your free consultation for dermal fillers with Abington Medi Spa, our qualified and experienced staff will discuss your goals and create a treatment plan.

What Affects Longevity?

  • How much filler is used
  • The location the filler is injected into your face
  • How fast your body metabolizes the filler
  • Your skincare regime
  • Smoking and substance use

What is the Process for Dermal Fillers?

Adding dermal fillers to your beauty regimen has never been easier. All you need is a consultation, numbing cream, and an appointment for this popular facial rejuvenation treatment.

At your consultation, our staff will discuss your cosmetic goals and target areas. At your appointment, you’ll use an anesthetic ointment or numbing cream that will aid with any pain. After everything is sanitized and clean, the dermal filler is injected into your face. It isn’t painless, but with the help of numbing cream, the discomfort is tolerable.

The fillers are then massaged into your face and evaluated to determine if more is necessary to achieve your desired results. The appointment can be as short as 15-20 minutes up to an hour and above.

Your face may feel tender for a few days after your treatment. Swelling and discomfort can be treated with ice packs but should go down quickly. Pain medication is normally not necessary.

Are Dermal Fillers Safe?

Dermal fillers have been studied and approved by the FDA. Abington Center Medi Spa utilizes Juvederm, an FDA-approved soft tissue filler. These are made of biodegradable, synthetic materials and natural substances found in the body. Over time, these materials break down naturally.

The FDA-approved dermal fillers for those aged 21 and up.

Those with specific allergies to animal products (i.e., collagen) may consider getting tested prior to your appointment. Allergic reactions rarely occur but bruising, tenderness, and redness are normal and should subside within a few days.

Juvéderm vs Botox

  • Juvéderm uses biodegradable substances to “plump” areas of the face and restore volume. It can last 12-24 months.
  • Botox freezes the muscles to prevent wrinkles caused by facial expressions. It is not derived from natural materials found in the body and typically lasts 3-4 months.
